Palm tree removal and relocation, Lakes Entrance – East Gippsland

Current Works.jpg

In partnership with Regional Roads Victoria, East Gippsland Shire Council is planning to remove the two existing pineapple palms (Phoenix canariensis) located on the southern side of the Esplanade between Barkes Avenue and Mechanics Street, Lakes Entrance.

The palm removal works are planning to proceed this week and are being timed now alongside other improvement works being undertaken in the area.

The palms will be replaced with Norfolk Island Pines to match the existing strong avenue theme along the foreshore. A garden bed will also be constructed in the area.

The palms will not be lost to Lakes Entrance as they will be transplanted opposite Koonwarra Family Holiday Park in the open space clear of any significant view lines on the south side of The Esplanade between Clarkes and Jetty roads.
