Panel to consider submissions

A Council panel
is considering more than 50 submissions on a range of topics relating to the
2019-2020 Budget and Council Plan update.

A Submissions
Review Panel, chaired by Cr Stephanie Asher, met at City Hall last night to
consider 52 written public submissions.

It will now
determine items for recommendation to Council, ahead of the adoption of the
Budget and Council Plan update 2019-20.

All submitters
received an invitation to attend the panel hearing and speak to their specific matter.

Among those to
present to the panel were:

  • Avalon Airport, which requested
funding improvements to Beach Road, Avalon
  • Barwon Heads Football and Netball
Club, which sought funding support for its ground maintenance
  • Friends of Kevin Hoffman Walk,
which requested funding to employ a part-time horticulturalist
  • Geelong Gallery, which called for
investment in an updated business case for the gallery’s expansion into
    City Hall space and
  • Ocean Grove Cobras Junior Football
Club, which sought matching funding for the development of a pavilion at
    Collendina Reserve.

Council will
receive a report containing recommendations from the Submissions Review Panel.

The report will
be considered when the Council meets to adopt the Budget and Council Plan
update on 25 June 2019.

The outcomes of
all submissions will be provided to submitters in writing following the
meeting.

Ashe – Chair Budget Submissions Review Panel

Thanks to all
the community members who took the time to provide a submission and to those
who presented directly to us.

It’s good to
see so many people making the most of their opportunity to participate in this
important process.

The council
will now carefully consider all submissions before we make a final decision on
the Budget and Council Plan update later this month.
