Paralympian Libby Kosmala to be inducted into Sport Australia Hall of Fame

The 2021 Sport Australia Hall of Fame inductees were announced yesterday morning on Channel 7’s Weekend Sunrise show. The inductees include six Olympians, former Australian soccer and cricket captains, and one of the nations greatest ever Paralympians, Libby Kosmala.

Libby, a Para-shooting air rifle competitor, attended a phenomenal 12 consecutive summer Paralympic games between 1972 and 2016, earning her a total of 13 medals including 9 gold. Induction into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame is reserved for the best of the best and this is something Libby is truly deserving of.

Shooting Australia President Cath Fettell acknowledged Libby’s achievements as an Australian small-bore and air rifle target competitor, as second to none. “Libby has inspired many athletes to participate in the sport and to pursue their dream of one day competing at the Paralympics. Her ongoing contribution to the sport of target shooting and as an Administrator, Coach and Mentor and overall Ambassador has been extremely significant.”

The 2021 inductees will be honoured in a television special to be aired on the Seven Network on December 2 Australia’s Sporting Heroes and Legends – a Celebration of the 2021 Sport Australia Hall of Fame. Shooting Australia looks forward to celebrating this special occasion with Libby in a few weeks time.
