Parklets currently installed in Boroondara’s shopping centres will now remain in place until 30 September 2021.
These pop up outdoor dining spaces have created new opportunities for hospitality businesses to accommodate more customers in a COVIDSafe manner.
COVID-19 restrictions continue to impact our local business community, and in anticipation of a staged reopening (including increased density limits) which may follow, we are proud to fund the extension of these parklets for an additional two months.
To date, Council’s Outdoor Dining program has played a significant role in recovery efforts by encouraging more foot traffic into our shopping centres for the benefit of all Boroondara businesses and the broader community.
This decision has been informed through consultation with traders, feedback from the community and directives from VicRoads and the Victorian Government.
Two parklets will be removed in line with the original end date of 30 July 2021 at 819-823 Burke Road and 842-848 Glenferrie Road based on these discussions.
