Parramatta Lanes Serves Up Ultimate Taste Journey

Parramatta Lanes is set to take Sydney food-lovers on a journey of flavours, with more than 50 different food stalls and five bars to experience from 15-18 October.

This year’s event will be one to remember as 14 lanes of the Parramatta CBD transform into a foodie heaven, where there will be something to suit every tastebud.

“Parramatta Lanes has established itself as a standout foodie event for Sydney. The City of Parramatta is a leading destination for real, authentic food – and a lot of it,” City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Bob Dwyer said.

“We are proud to host a festival with a diverse range of food options, reflective of our multicultural City. Parramatta Lanes will offer some new and surprising food experiences for people to enjoy.”

The festival menu spans numerous cuisines including South-East Asian, Indian, Middle Eastern and French, as well as some favourite local offerings.

Meat-lovers need to look no further than Centenary Square where they will find an abundance of different barbeque meats to try. Options will include slow-cooked Aussie lamb from Waroo Lamb, American-style barked brisket from 2 Smoking Barrels, and smoky charcoal chicken from Bar-B-Skew. Diego’s Donuts will also be there to tempt people with an assortment of fresh donuts topped with some of your favourite toppings.

For those wanting a taste of Asia, head to Hawker Lane in the Roxy Carpark. Here, you will be transported from Singapore to Seoul, Kuala Lumpur to Kyoto, all in one laneway. Local favourite Temasek will be returning with their famous Nasi Goreng, as well as other Malaysian delicacies. Other highlights of this lane include Korean fried chicken from Birdman, spice marinated skewers from Firepop, plus favourites from Korean BBQ. Wash it all down with one of the Thai-style beverages from Yum Thai Juice Bars.

The Eat Street carpark will be transformed into a rooftop party, with some foodie favourites amidst the fun of a Bingo Loco rave bingo dance party. Butter Parramatta will be serving up their brand new Katsu chicken sandwich, while Don Taco by Ume will serve up a unique fusion of Japanese and Tex Mex. Head down towards the Parramatta River foreshore and step back into the ’80s with some retro favourites in Dirrabarri Lane, including offerings from Berlin Bangers, Mate Burger, El’s Fried Chicken and more. Pair your favourite burger with one of six different craft beers from local Riverside Brewery.

The Riverbank site will be transformed into Parramatta’s own Little India with an array of vibrant colours, authentic aromas, and rich flavours. Try a range of Indian delicacies from local Chilli & Grains, as well as delicious options from Punjabi Fusion and Chapayom.

There are also lots of decadent choices available for any Lane-goers with a sweet tooth. Among the highlights is KOI Dessert Bar, who will wow visitors with a bespoke layered cake featuring Nadia Odlum’s artwork Our Intertwining Lives. For those after something a little different, head to Horwood Place where The Bearded Bakers will transport you to Old City Jerusalem with their signature dessert, Knafeh. This dessert is a sweet cheese and semolina pudding, covered in a layer of fine crumbled pistachio (think a hot crème brûlée).

In addition to the wide range of food available, visitors will also have plenty of beverage options to choose from. Cocktail fans can head to the Eat Street Carpark Rooftop where there will be a different cocktail special each night, as well as a range of beers, ciders, and wines. The Roxy Carpark Bar will serve up a selection of Japanese beers, cider, and a special Kanazawa-inspired cocktail. Bar 30 in Dirrabarri Lane, Willow Grove, and Erby Place will also have a great selection of wines, beers, and cocktails.

Parramatta Lanes is committed to reducing single-use waste with Lanes bars providing clean, reusable cups by Ruzi. There will be no plastic water bottles sold on site, and visitors are encouraged to bring their own water bottles and use the refill stations located across the festival. Those feeling fit and wanting to reduce their carbon footprint can cycle to the festival and take advantage of the Lanes bike valet service provided by Addventageous.
