The McGowan Government, through Horizon Power’s Community Partnerships Program 2021-22, has awarded funding of more than $500,000 to 40 community organisations across regional Western Australia.
A range of different applications was received from sporting associations, arts and cultural groups, women’s groups and animal welfare organisations.
Successful applicants included DV Assist; Ord Valley Events; Fair Game Australia; the Clontarf Foundation; and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Broome, Karratha and Port Hedland.
The Shire of Carnarvon has been awarded $10,000 for an arts and cultural program in the Gascoyne, and the Nyunnga-Ku Women’s Group was also awarded $10,000 to go towards a Women’s Wellbeing Community Hub in Leonora.
Several arts and culture programs and community festivals are also being supported in the Mid-West, West Kimberley and Goldfields-Esperance regions.
This funding builds on the $1.1 million awarded to 116 community organisations in the past financial year and continues the McGowan Government’s strong legacy of partnering with regional communities.
Assessments are based on community needs, with funding ranging from $1,000 to $50,000.
