Opened in 1972 by Bruce and Margaret Kubbere on the site of a former poultry farm, Featherdale Sydney Wildlife Park has grown into one of Western Sydney’s most-loved visitor attractions. For more than five decades, the park has welcomed generations of families, school groups and visitors from around the world, creating meaningful connections between people and iconic Australian wildlife.

Today, Featherdale Sydney Wildlife Park is home to more than 2,000 Australian native animals across more than 260 species, including over 60 threatened native species. For many visitors, the park is their first opportunity to meet a koala, hand-feed a kangaroo or experience Australian wildlife up close.

To mark its 54th birthday, the park will host the Paws & Claws Birthday Celebration, adding extra activities and birthday fun to a full day of close-up wildlife experiences.

Australian Wildlife Parks Ambassador Zookeeper Chad Staples said the celebration was an opportunity to thank the community for its support and share the occasion with generations of visitors who have grown up with the park.

Families can also add a Wildlife Adventure Trail to their day for $19.99. Young explorers can follow the self-guided trail, collect eight hidden stamps and discover wildlife facts along the way before unlocking an exclusive showbag valued at more than $60.

The free Paws & Claws birthday activities are included with general admission or a valid membership and run from 10.00 am to 2.00 pm. Featherdale Sydney Wildlife Park is open daily from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm and is located at 217 Kildare Road, Doonside NSW 2767.
