PD Edge Sniffs Out Driver At Kilburn

Police Dog Edge was called in to assist with a search after a driver ran from the scene of a crash at Kilburn yesterday.

Just before 3.30 pm on Saturday 15 August, witnesses reported a white Holden ute was driving dangerously on Churchill Road at Kilburn before crashing into two vehicles.

The driver of the Holden made attempts to drive between two white Holden sedans but instead crashed into them both at the intersection of Grand Junction Road and Churchill Road, Kilburn.

It will be alleged the driver ran from the scene and attempted to steal another vehicle, a beige Nissan, before witnesses intervened. The driver then ran off into a nearby embankment concealed by shrubs.

Numerous patrols were called to the scene along with PD Edge to assist with a search.

The alleged driver, a 48-year-old man from Naracoorte, was located by PD Edge and subsequently arrested.

He was taken to hospital for treatment and also had a sample of blood taken for analysis.

The other drivers were not injured during the incident.

The 48-year-old was charged with illegal use, driving without due care, driving under the influence, resist police, drug driving, two counts of failing to stop at scene of crash. He was bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on 2 October.
