Pedestrian dies after collision in Dandenong

Cardinia Highway Patrol are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal collision after a pedestrian was struck by a car in Dandenong overnight.

Police have been told the pedestrian appeared in a confused state on Herbert Street and was seen to be shuffling himself across a pedestrian crossing while sitting on the road just after 8.30pm.

It’s believed a car travelling north on Stud Road struck the man while travelling with the flow of traffic through a green traffic control signal.

Emergency services worked on the yet to be identified man, but he sadly died at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene and has spoken to police regarding the collision.

Police are appealing for assistance from the public to identify the man who is believed to be aged in his 30s, described as African in appearance and who was wearing distinctive black runners with green soles.

An image of one of the shoes has been released in the hope it will assist in identifying the man.

He was also wearing a black military style cap.
