Pedestrian dies after crash – Central Coast

A man has died following a crash on the state’s Central Coast overnight.

Just after 7.30pm (Monday 2 October 2023), officers from Tuggerah Lakes Police District were called to Sparks Road at Halloran, following reports a pedestrian had been struck by a car.

The male pedestrian was treated by NSW Ambulance; however, he died at the scene. The man has not been formally identified but is believed to be aged in his 80s.

The driver, a 49-year-old man, underwent a roadside breath test, which allegedly returned a positive result.

He was arrested and underwent a breath analysis test that returned a reading of 0.173.

The 49-year-old man was then taken to Wyong Hospital for mandatory testing.

A crime scene has been established, with officers from the Crash Investigation Unit to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.

As inquiries continue, any witnesses or anyone with dashcam vision is urged to come forward.
