Kiama Council reminds our visitors and residents, under NSW Government legislation, it is illegal to ride e-scooters on roads.

Riding e-scooters (or any other motorised vehicle) on footpaths and bicycle lanes is also prohibited.

E-scooters can be ridden on private property.

Complaints about e-scooter use on roads and pathways should be referred to NSW Police.

Kiama Councillors voted to support the prohibition of e-scooters on pubic roads and footpaths at their meeting this week.

In 2022, Transport for NSW invited local councils to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to take part in shared e-scooter trials.

Kiama Council did not submit an EOI as our infrastructure does not meet the criteria required, such as the amount of shared paths in our Municipality.
