Pedestrian struck and killed in North Geelong

A man has died in hospital after being struck by a vehicle in North Geelong earlier this week.

It is believed the man was crossing Thompson Road when he was allegedly struck by an oncoming vehicle near the intersection of Galway Avenue about 11.50am on Tuesday 26 February.

The pedestrian, an 81-year-old Geelong North man, was flown to Melbourne with life-threatening injuries however died in hospital this last night.

The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their enquiries.

The exact cause of the collision is yet to be determined and the investigation is ongoing.
