Penrith Jobs Fair connects job seekers with employers

A Jobs Fair at Penrith at Penrith Valley Regional Sports Centre on Friday 7 February 2020 will showcase a wealth of employment opportunities available within the Greater Western Sydney region.

Funded by the Morrison Government, the Penrith event will bring together job seekers and numerous local and regional New South Wales businesses, along with apprenticeship, traineeship and service providers offering a range of employment opportunities.

Minister for Employment, Skills, Small and Family Business, Senator the Hon Michaelia Cash, said the Jobs Fair will give people looking for work the chance to speak directly with employers looking for employees and employment service providers.

“The Morrison Government is committed to connecting local jobseekers with local employers and Jobs Fairs are a great way of doing this. The Jobs Fairs have been extremely successful to date with over 24,000 people attending jobs fairs over the last two years,” Minister Cash said.

“The Government is committed to getting more Australians into work. As Minister for Employment, I am determined to ensure that job seekers in Penrith and the greater Western Sydney get the assistance they need to gain sustainable employment.

Member for Lindsay, Melissa McIntosh MP, said the Jobs Fair offers locals looking for work great opportunities.

“The Penrith Jobs Fair is timely given the number of major Australian Government funded infrastructure projects, including the Western Sydney Airport project and Australia’s largest public transport project: Sydney Metro.”

“This Jobs Fair is particularly well timed for our region. The Greater Western Sydney area is one of the fastest growing regions in Australia and employment is projected to increase by 9.7 per cent in Sydney over the five years to 2024,” Ms McIntosh said.

“I encourage people to come along, engage in the workshops and find out about the wealth of available local and regional jobs.”

Workshops and information sessions will offer practical tips on résumés and interviews, and job seekers will hear from local employers about the skills they are looking for. There will also be sessions on current job search techniques along with advice on starting a small business.
