Permanent fix for flood damaged road

Extensive damage to Bahrs Scrub Road
Bahrs Scrub Road at Bahrs Scrub after February’s downpour.

Heavy rain earlier this year affected many roads in Logan, with some requiring urgent repairs.

One of the impacted roads was a section of Bahrs Scrub Road at Bahrs Scrub.

Council has begun repair works to reconstruct the section of the road affected by the heavy rain to ensure it is capable of withstanding future deluges.

Works should to take four weeks to complete, weather permitting.

“Council is delivering a road network that connects the city now and into the future,” Director of Road and Water Infrastructure Daryl Ross said.

“This section of road will be reconstructed in concrete to make the road more resilient to extreme weather events.

“Due to the nature of the work, this section of the road will be closed and existing traffic diversions will operate.

“This is regrettable but necessary to ensure the safety of workers and to protect the concrete until it is strong enough for traffic to use.”

Council thanks the community for its patience as Council continues post-flood repairs.

Road users should obey all signs and follow directions from traffic controllers.
