Perth rail passengers remain most satisfied for sixth year in a row

  • Transperth rated Australia’s best metropolitan train system by Canstar Blue
  • Independent survey found Perth’s rail customers are the most satisfied for sixth consecutive year
  • Transperth given the maximum five-star rating in six of the eight categories, with four stars in the other two 
  • Perth has again been ranked as having Australia’s best metropolitan train system by independent national pollster Canstar Blue.

    Transperth has taken out the top gong in the City Trains category – which pits the Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth urban rail networks against one another to find who has the most satisfied customers – for the sixth time in succession.

    Transperth was given five-star ratings – the highest possible – in the overall satisfaction, service reliability, timetabling, trip comfort, cleanliness and ticketing system categories.

    Adelaide Metro came in second, with one five-star rating and seven four-star ratings.

    The win coincides with the launch of the $1.25 million Transperth patronage campaign, aimed at attracting more people to the public transport network by encouraging motorists to take a break from driving, by taking a Transperth bus or train.

    As stated by Transport Minister Rita Saffioti:

    “It is great to be recognised on the national stage by a well-respected organisation like Canstar.

    “This recognition demonstrates our world-class public transport system, which is only going to improve as our network expands with the METRONET projects.

    “I’d encourage anyone who hasn’t used Transperth services in a while to experience the first-rate network we have here in WA.”
