Perth has won the right to host the Fed Cup final between Australia and France in November.
The International Tennis Federation announced the final would be held on home soil after team Australia, captained by WA’s Alicia Molik and led by Australia’s No.1 tennis player and recent Roland Garros champion Ashleigh Barty, defeated Belarus in the semi-final in April.
It will be the first time Perth has staged the final of the world’s largest annual international women’s tennis team competition since the 1971 edition. Australia last won a final in 1974.
The competition will take place at RAC Arena on November 9 and 10, and the players will begin to arrive from November 2 for a week of training and official functions.
The final is a great lead into the new nation-versus-nation Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Cup teams event which takes place in January 2020.
Perth is one of three cities to host the new ATP competition, which is set to attract around 100 of the world’s best male tennis players who will compete for 750 highly coveted ATP ranking points and $22 million in prize money.
Tickets for the Fed Cup final start from $20 for a two-day pass for adults and children in the bronze seating category.
Children’s tickets are free, with up to four children (14 years and under) being able to attend when they accompany a paying adult in the bronze category.

“Perth last hosted a Fed Cup final in 1971 when Australia defeated Great Britain at the Royal Kings Park Tennis Club.
“It’s a great coup for the Fed Cup final to return to Perth after 48 years particularly in the lead-up to the launch of the new ATP Cup in January 2020.
“Western Australians are passionate about tennis and I’m sure will jump at the opportunity to see Aussie champions including Ashleigh Barty, Samantha Stosur and Daria Gavrilova take on France’s finest.”
