Perth Zoo gives mums free entry on Mother’s Day

  • Mums get in free for Mother’s Day
  • Mothers will not have to purchase a ticket at the gate or online this Sunday
  • Perth Zoo will celebrate Mother’s Day with a gift for all mums.

The zoo will provide free admission for mums on Sunday May 8, encouraging families to spend the day at the zoo together.

Mums will not be required to purchase a ticket at the zoo gate or online, enjoying the wild present from the zoo instead.

The zoo has a bevy of animal mothers including giraffes Kitoto and Ellie who both welcomed calves last year, whilst Javan gibbon mum Sunda is being kept busy on the main island near the front of the zoo by her adventurous two-year-old Asta.

Perth Zoo is also home to Western Australia’s oldest reproducing mum ‘CZ1’, a 70-year-old western swamp tortoise who is still contributing fertile eggs to the breeding program which helps safeguard the future of the endangered species.

As stated by Environment Minister Reece Whitby:

“We are delighted to be able to provide WA mums with free entry to the zoo this Mother’s Day.

“It is an annual zoo tradition and an important day for us to say ‘thank you’ to mothers who come to the zoo with their children and share the amazing world of wildlife with them.

“The zoo has long been a family favourite, a place where fond memories are created, and it is important to us that as many mums as possible can enjoy all the zoo has to offer with their children.

“We look forward to welcoming many mums to the zoo this Sunday.”
