The Hawkesbury River will be the focus for photographers with a keen eye for nature to enter a photography competition that raises awareness of the Hawkesbury-Nepean Coastal Management Program.

World Rivers Day on 26 September marked the launch of the ‘Our Hawkesbury River’ photography competition, a collaborative project of the NSW Government with Hornsby, Hawkesbury, Central Coast, Ku-ring-gai, Northern Beaches and Hills Shire councils.

Local Government Minister Shelley Hancock said the NSW Government is committed to supporting local councils when it comes to managing and protecting their valuable coastlines and waterways.

“What better way to acknowledge that commitment than on World Rivers Day,” Mrs Hancock said.

“People across the catchment can acknowledge the global day by entering the photography competition and capturing what the Hawkesbury River means to them.”

“The NSW Government is passionate about providing support for local councils to manage and protect their valuable coastlines and waterways, and what better way to acknowledge that commitment than on World Rivers Day,” Mrs Hancock said.

Competition prizes include one of three NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service annual All Parks Passes.

Entries close on Sunday 17 October. Find out more about the Our Hawkesbury River photography competition.
