Planned works for Blacksmiths Way Belgrave

Works to rectify the road surface at Blacksmiths Way in Belgrave has been scheduled for the end of January as a result of issues with a coating used on the road as part of a project late last year.

Road improvement works were conducted late last year as part of a Landscape Masterplan for Blacksmiths Way. The works included the application of a coloured surface to the lane to feature a graphic of flowing water and several platypuses. Unfortunately, issues with a batch of coating combined with weather complications resulted in the graphic feature drying with an uneven and cloudy finish.

The contractor that performed these initial works has agreed to rectify these issues at no extra cost to Council. Rectification works will involve reapplying the coloured surface treatment to the laneway which will ensure that the graphic feature planned for Blacksmiths Way has the vibrancy and quality that we initially intended.

Rectification works for Blacksmiths Way are scheduled for 31 January to 2 February. Dates may be subject to change based on weather conditions.

Works will be conducted at night between 8pm and 3am to minimise disruptions. Pedestrian access to the station and all businesses will still be available.

We apologise for any inconvenience for these works.
