Planning brighter future for North Brighton Children’s Centre

Works will commence in mid-June 2022 to upgrade and expand the North Brighton Children’s Centre at 145A Cochrane Street, Brighton.

The new design will create more kindergarten and occasional care places for local children and continue to deliver on-site maternal and child health services.

Key elements include:

  • A purpose-built centre for three-year old and four-year-old kindergarten
  • Occasional care service and a multi-functional meeting room
  • An expanded outdoor play area for occasional care
  • Maternal Child Health consulting rooms
  • Environmentally sensitive design
  • On site car parking and landscaping improvements.

The upgrade and extension of North Brighton Children’s Centre will enable the kindergarten and occasional care services to better meet the immediate and future needs of local families and improve the infrastructure, quality and accessibility of early childhood education and care services in Bayside’s North.

The Centre will be reconfigured to create an additional 14 places for children to attend the kindergarten and five more places at the occasional care.

The new building will feature environmentally sensitive design, an extended outdoor play area and provide increased onsite car parking.

We have relocated the services to temporary facilities at Brighton East, adjacent to Hurlingham Park, Elsternwick Primary School, and Brighton East and Hampton Maternal and Child Health centres to ensure a smooth transition for children and families during the construction period.

Construction is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2022 and the new and improved children’s centre will be ready to welcome families in 2023.
