Central Goldfields Shire Council and the North Central Catchment Management Authority have been working to update existing planning controls for identifying flood risk in the townships of Carisbrook and Dunolly.

The updated planning controls will be introduced through an amendment to the Central Goldfields Planning Scheme known as C031cgol.

This amendment will update the planning scheme maps and controls to identify the risk of flooding and flood damage on new development on land in the relevant overlays.

In November last year, an independent panel heard from submitters and flood management experts. The panel is an independent assessor of submissions to amendment processes appointed by Planning Panels Victoria (PPV).

The report by the panel is due for public release on Wednesday 20 January 2021 and will be available at www.centralgoldfields.vic.gov.au/amendments

“The updates to the Central Goldfields Planning Scheme will be imperative in identifying flood risk for the communities of Dunolly and Carisbrook. Thank you to everyone who engaged with the Council and Catchment Management Authority during the amendment process last year,” he said.

The panel report supported the amendment, including the three recommended changes as proposed by Council. Council will now consider adopting the amendment at its meeting on 23 February.
