Bayside Council, in collaboration with Archistar, has received grant funding to trial an AI chatbot to support residents at the planning stage of building projects.
The new Planning Pathfinder will help residents understand what type of planning approval they may need, indicating whether the project is likely to require a Complying Development Certificate (CDC) or a Development Application (DA).
Key features of the Planning Pathfinder include:
Provide site-specific planning information for your property;
Indicate the most appropriate approval pathway for your project; and
Generate a personalised report which outlining key planning controls that may apply.
As this is a trial, the tool will continue to be refined over time. While it offers a useful starting point, it does not replace professional advice and cannot assess, submit or track applications, or provide guidance on complex developments. Residents are strongly encouraged to seek professional advice before committing significant time or a money to a project.
