Planning to go online with myCouncil

Say farewell to piles of paperwork and waiting for the mail because Swan Hill Rural City Council’s Planning Department is going digital.

From Monday, 6 January 2020, planning applications through Council will be processed online.

Council’s Director of Development and Planning Heather Green said Council was transitioning to paperless transactions through a new online community portal, myCouncil.

“Council has recognised some opportunities to streamline our systems, which will help us provide a more efficient service for our customers, for Council itself and will reduce our use of paper,” she said.

“The Planning Department will be the first to transition to myCouncil. We hope it will make the task of applying for a planning permit easier for everyone.”

Ms Green said myCouncil would allow customers to lodge their planning applications; apply to amend a planning application; view the status of an application; view plans; and upload evidence.

She said there would be a period of transition to implement the new system.

“Council will still be accepting hard copy planning applications for the first six months as the digital process is introduced,” she said.

Over the next 12 months Council will transition more services to myCouncil. This will include Building Permit applications and other building-related services.
