Plans for Diamond Creek BMX Park jumping ahead

The final designs for the new Diamond Creek BMX jumps have been released on Participate Nillumbik.

Specialist designers The Trail Collective have refined the plans, taking on feedback following extensive consultation that first began in January 2022.

The $650,000 jumps, funded by Council, will be located at 145 Allendale Road, Diamond Creek, with easy access to the Diamond Creek Trail.

The designs include an asphalt pump track and beginner to advanced dirt jumps. Jumps and lines have been designed to not only cater for all skill levels, but support skill development.

Council is now seeking the relevant planning approvals with work on the jumps anticipated to start as soon as possible.

The bike jumps will be part of a broader community park at the site. The park, which will include toilets, car parking, shelters, paths, seating as well as landscaping, has been funded with a $2.16 million grant from the Victorian Government’s Growing Suburbs fund. Designs are currently being finalised.

Mayor Ben Ramcharan said the jumps would be a fantastic facility for the Shire’s young people and BMX enthusiasts.

“We know that BMX riding is popular in the Shire and there is demand for a safe and suitable space for our young people to do this,” Cr Ramcharan said.

Ellis Ward Councillor Peter Perkins said the creation of the park was in response to community feedback and a great outcome for Diamond Creek.

“I would like to thank Eltham MP Vicki Ward for her support and advocacy to help us create a top-class facility. Together with the new Youth Hub, we are ensuring we are providing our young people the services they need, close to where they live.”
