Logan-born hip hop artist Ethan Enoch-Barlow will be the feature poet at the launch event of Poetry in the Park and will also emcee the event.

The initiative is open to anyone interested in spoken word performance ranging from new to experienced poets.

It will give established poets the chance to test their new work and allow new poets to build their performance skills and confidence.

Logan City Council City Lifestyle Committee Chairperson Councillor Laurie Koranski said Poetry in the Park would provide an opportunity for Logan residents to develop their spoken word performance skills.

“It will create a place where people can join together and gain invaluable experience,” Cr Koranski said.

“We encourage anyone who wants to perform or anyone who simply wants to listen to some great live performances to head to Logan Gardens for Poetry in the Park.”

Poetry in the Park will run from 6pm to 8pm on Thursday, January 28 in Logan Gardens in Logan Central.

It will then run from January to May with the next session scheduled for Thursday, February 18.

During a winter break creative writing workshops will be held before the program resumes in the park between September and December.

There will be 16 mic spots available on the night.

People can sign up before the event via Poetry in the Park registration
