PolAir Pursues Para Hills To Paradise

A man has been arrested after a pursuit in the northern suburbs overnight.

Just before 8pm Saturday 2 March patrols spotted a Ford hatchback on Marsh Avenue, at Para Hills. Checks on the registration revealed the Ford was a hire car that had been reported as stolen as it had not been returned by the correct date.

The car suddenly took off, patrols activated their emergency lights to pull the car over but it failed to do so. Patrols pursued the vehicle for a short time through the back streets of Para Hills before PolAir took over the call.

PolAir followed the car as it travelled east along Milne Road, then south on Kelly Road. The car then went back the other way, west on Montague, south on Walkleys and Sudholz, travelling all the way down to Paradise where it came to a stop in Willow Drive.

PolAir informed patrols the driver had got out of the car and run along the Linear Trail into a large paddock then jumped into the back yard of a home. Patrols flooded the area quickly locating the driver in the back yard and placed him under arrest.

The 37-year-old Elizabeth East man has been charged with use motor vehicle without consent, drive at extreme speed and dangerous driving to escape police pursuit. He did not apply for bail and will appear in the Elizabeth magistrates Court on Monday.

The car was towed from the scene.
