Police agencies unite for a worthy cause

Minister for Police, the Honourable Mark Ryan MP, this evening joined Commissioner Katarina Carroll for the annual Police and Community Charity Ball, held on the Gold Coast.

Launched in 2018, the Ball was this year held at The Star Gold Coast and is a tri-police agency initiative involving officers from the QPS, New South Wales Police Force and Australian Federal Police.

Entertainment for the night was provided by the Queensland Police band, “Band of Blue” who captivated the audience with their performance.

Commissioner Carroll said the event was an important one as it raised valuable funds for the Gold Coast Hospital Foundation and the United Hospital Auxiliaries of NSW inc.

“This is just one way that we, as police, can give back to the community and the impact from funds raised extends to not just those who are facing difficult medical challenges, but the broader community.

“I am so proud of our organisation; the partnerships we forge with the community and benefits we bring to so many Queenslanders.

“By working together with our colleagues across the jurisdictions, we can all contribute to worthy causes such as this.”

Minister Ryan said it was an honour to be part of the event in its second year, combining the federal jurisdictions and state jurisdictions of Queensland Police and New South Wales Police for charity.

“To those here tonight who are involved with the policing agencies, thank you for your selfless commitment and dedication to serving your community.

“Your hard work each and every day does not go unnoticed and you should be proud to be a part of this evening with your fellow colleagues.”
