Police appeal after attempted armed robberies in Eastern Beaches

Police are appealing for public assistance to identify a man as part of investigations into multiple attempted armed robberies in Sydney’s eastern beaches earlier this month.

About 10pm on Tuesday 5 April 2022, a man armed with a knife, approached two women at the intersection of Houston Road and Day Avenue, Kensington, and threatened them, demanding money.

He ran from the scene without any proceeds.

About 10.15pm the same night, a man threatened another woman with a knife on Houston Road. He ran from the scene without any proceeds when he was startled by a nearby resident.

The man was seen running towards Anzac Parade, Kingsford, before boarding the 3910X bus.

Shortly after, the man got off the bus near the intersection of Fitzgerald Avenue, Maroubra, about 10.20pm, and threatened a fourth person with a knife, demanding money.

He fled the scene without any proceeds.

No injuries were reported during these incidents.

The incidents were reported to police, with officers attached to Eastern Beaches Police Area Command commencing an investigation.

As inquiries continue, police have released images of a man who they believe can assist with their inquiries.

The man depicted is described as being of Maori/Pacific Islander appearance, with black hair. He is shown wearing a black hoodie and black tracksuit pants, with a blue face mask.

Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who may have information about his identity to contact Eastern Beaches Police Area Command.
