Police appeal for information after assault in Darlinghurst

Investigators are appealing for information from the community as they continue to investigate the assault of a man in inner Sydney earlier this year.

Police have been told about 4am on Sunday 26 June 2022, a 33-year-old man was walking near the intersection of Oxford Street and Riley Street at Darlinghurst, when he was assaulted by a group of unknown males.

The group then fled the scene on foot.

The injured man was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital and treated for facial injuries and has since been released.

Officers from Surry Hills Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Police believe that three males depicted on the CCTV and in the images may be able to assist with inquiries.

They are described as being aged in their mid-20s.

The first male depicted is described as being of African appearance with black hair. He is wearing a red t-shirt, white shorts and white shoes.

The second male depicted is described as being of Caucasian appearance with light brown hair. He is wearing a blue and white striped football jersey with the number 15 on the back, black jeans and white shoes.

The third male depicted is described as being of Caucasian appearance with dark hair. He is wearing a cream long sleeve shirt, black pants and white shoes.

As investigations continue, police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the assault or are able to assist in the identification of individuals involved to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
