It is understood a grey BMW X5 wagon collided with a silver Lexus IS250C sedan on the Eastern Freeway, between Alexandra Parade and the Yarra Bend overpass, about 8am on Sunday, 21 May.

Police believe the BMW collided into the back of the Lexus, which spun around and then crashed into railings.

The passengers, a 52-year-old Braybrook woman and a 59-year-old Maribyrnong woman, were not injured.

One of the male passengers in the BMW, a 27-year-old Reservoir man, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The two other occupants of the BMW, a 28-year-old Ascot Vale man and a 20-year-old Broadmeadows man, were not injured.

Police are appealing for any dashcam footage showing the vehicles leaving the Melbourne CBD area prior to the collision.

Anyone who witnessed the collision, has dashcam footage or information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
