Police are responding to fatal collision in St Albans 24 October

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating a collision in St Albans this morning, which claimed the life of a pedestrian.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Furlong Road and St Albans Road to reports a car had collided with a pedestrian about 2.20am.

The male pedestrian, who is yet to be formally identified, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries where he later died.

The male driver of the car stopped at the scene, spoke to police and was released pending further enquiries.

It is understood the pedestrian stopped and spoke to the driver of a black utility prior to the collision at the intersection of Furlong Road and Willaton Street.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be determined at this stage.
