Police are investigating a fatal collision in Wonga Park this afternoon.
It is understood a blue Ford Falcon collided with a white Nissan Patrol, which was towing a trailer, on Homestead Road about 3.15pm.
The male driver of the blue Ford died at the scene.
The passenger, a 25-year-old man, was arrested at the scene and is assisting police with their enquiries.
The driver of the Nissan Patrol was not injured.
Police were told the blue Ford Falcon had been seen leaving the scene of an attempted armed robbery at a shop on Yarra Road a short time earlier.
It is alleged two men entered the store armed with a weapon.
There were no injuries, and nothing was taken.
The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be determined at this stage.
