Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a single vehicle crash in Epsom.
Investigators have been told a car was travelling along Wallenjoe Road about 11pm Thursday night when it left the road and crashed into a tree.
Two passengers in the car managed to get out and contact emergency services.
The female driver, believed to be a woman in her 20s, was trapped in the car for a short while until she was freed.
She was taken to hospital in a critical condition but later died.
Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.
