Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal crash which occurred in Kanumbra this evening.
Investigators have been told a vehicle crashed into a tree along the Maroondah Highway about 11.45pm.
The female driver died at the scene and is yet to be formally identified.
The circumstances surrounding the crash are yet to be established and the investigation is ongoing.
