Knox Highway Patrol are investigating a fatal crash in Ringwood last week.
It is understood a car crashed into a pole on Canterbury Road about 11.40pm on Friday, 3 February.
The driver, a 26-year-old man, was taken to hospital where he later died on Monday, 6 February.
The passenger, a 23-year-old Wallan woman, attended hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
