Police are responding to fatal crash – Maddens Plains

An investigation is underway following a fatal crash north of Wollongong.

About 4pm today (Wednesday 22 November 2023), emergency services were called to the Princes Highway at Maddens Plains following reports of a crash.

Police have been told a southbound utility and a southbound Mazda collided before the utility crashed into the guard rail.

The driver of the ute died at the scene. He has not been identified.

The female passenger was extricated from the vehicle before being taken to St George Hospital.

The Mazda driver wasn’t injured but was taken to Wollongong Hospital to undergo mandatory testing.

Officers from Wollongong Police District established a crime scene and have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
