Police are at the scene of a serious crash on North East Road at Houghton.
Just after 10am today (Thursday 30 December), emergency services were called to the area after reports that two cars had collided.
One of the drivers suffered serious injuries.
Citybound traffic is blocked on North East Road.
Please avoid the area if possible.
