Stonnington Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating an alleged serious assault outside a nightclub in Toorak in the early hours of New Year’s Day.
It is alleged a man and woman left a licensed premise on Jackson Road about 3am on Sunday, 1 January and got into a vehicle.
Investigators were told offenders were leaning on the car, and following an altercation, it is alleged four men assaulted the man.
He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The woman sustained minor injuries during the incident.
Four offenders fled the scene on foot and were arrested nearby.
Three 19-year-old men from Dandenong and an 18-year-old Dandenong man are assisting police with their enquiries.
