Police arrest man after aggravated burglary in Northcote

Darebin Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested and charged a man who was wanted by police following an aggravated burglary in Northcote over the weekend.

The 25-year-old man, who had absconding from a hospital Saturday morning, was arrested without incident at an Ivanhoe address about 2.30am following extensive enquiries by detectives over the last three days.

The arrest follows an appeal to the public for information following the alleged aggravated burglary in Salisbury Grove on Saturday 8 April 1.30am.

A woman was home at the time of the incident which involved the use of an alleged accelerant.

The Ivanhoe man has been charged with aggravated burglary, attempted criminal damage by fire, reckless conduct endangering life, reckless conduct endangering serious injury, stalking and other assault related charges.

It expected the man will appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court this morning.
