Northern Territory Police have arrested a 27-year-old man after he allegedly assaulted two police officers while being arrested in Katherine on Sunday.
At around 11:40am, Strike Force Cerberus members located the man walking along Acacia Street near Katherine Police Station.
Police approached the man in relation to outstanding offences when he allegedly resisted arrest and assaulted two officers.
A short struggle ensued before police were able to restrain and arrest the man. He was subsequently taken to the Katherine Watch House.
The man was wanted in relation to an alleged incident at a Katherine residence on 23 August 2026, the same day he had been granted police bail in relation to an unrelated property damage matter.
It is alleged the man attended a relative’s residence and threw an object through a bedroom window, causing significant damage.
When a bystander attempted to intervene, he allegedly assaulted them before fleeing the area upon police arrival.
The 27-year-old has since been charged with multiple offences, including two counts of assault police, assault, damage to property, two counts of breach of bail, resisting police, possessing cannabis in a public place, disorderly behaviour in a public place and possessing fireworks outside an approved period.
At the time of his arrest, police also allegedly located a small zip-lock bag containing suspected methamphetamine residue in his possession.
Investigations remain ongoing.
