Police arrest man after Langwarrin aggravated burglary

A man has been arrested by police following an aggravated burglary in Langwarrin this morning.

Police have been told a resident of Elm Grove heard someone outside his property about 3am.

The resident went to investigate and found a man attempting to steal tools from his utility which was parked in the driveway.

The man confronted the offender and a struggle ensued before the victim was chased back into his property and assaulted with a sledgehammer.

Neighbours raised the alarm after hearing the altercation and victim calling for help.

Uniform officers from Frankston were quickly on the scene and arrested the man in a neighbouring rear yard.

The 37-year-old victim has been taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries.

The 33-year-old man from Frankston who was arrested at the scene has been taken to hospital under police guard.
