Police arrest man after Morphett Vale break-in, South Australia

Police have arrested one man and are searching for a second suspect after they allegedly stole property from an address at Morphett Vale this afternoon.

About 1.30pm on Sunday 16 May, Southern District patrols were called to Modler Road after reports of two men stealing property from the shed of a vacant home.

An off duty member was jogging past the address and confronted the men. One of the offenders produced a stanley knife and the men ran off towards Main South Road.

About one hour later a victim on Bruce Street, contacted police advising her home had been broken into and rummaged through.

Police believe the two break-ins are connected.

A search of the surrounding area located property stolen from the home including a chainsaw, tools and a guitar.

Just after 4pm police spotted a man matching the description of one of the suspects. PD Stoic and his handler were first on scene where they located and arrested a 42-year-old man from Christies Beach.

He is expected to be charged with serious criminal trespass and theft.

Anyone who witnessed the offenders or has any information that may be able to assist the investigation is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestopperssa.com.au
