Police arrest man after police vehicle rammed by stolen car in Drouin

Police have arrested a man after a police vehicle was allegedly rammed by a stolen car in Drouin overnight.

Officers were patrolling when they observed a stolen gold Mazda sedan parked in a driveway on Kraft Crescent just before midnight.

Officers stopped in front of car and the driver allegedly accelerated into the police vehicle.

The driver subsequently fled on foot through neighbouring property.

Police cordoned the area before locating the man hiding on the roof of a residential property.

The 27-year-old Morwell man was arrested without incident and is currently assisting police with enquiries.

The police vehicle sustained moderate damage during the incident but luckily no officers were injured.

Investigators have since established the Mazda sedan was allegedly stolen from a Morwell address between 12am and 12pm on Wednesday, 5 January.

The investigation remains ongoing.
