Police arrest man after pursuit in northern and western suburbs, South Australia

A man has been arrested after a pursuit in the northern and western suburbs this evening.

Just after 10pm on Friday 26 July a stolen Hyundai was spotted by patrols on Cross Keys Road, Salisbury South, when police tried to stop the car, the driver allegedly refused and the car sped off and headed west on Kings Road.

Extra patrols were called to the area, along with a police dog and the police helicopter (PolAir). The stolen Hyundai was then followed through numerous northern and western suburbs.

Nearly an hour later, the vehicle was abandoned by the driver at the intersection of Stroud Street South and Seventh Street, Cheltenham with driver being located nearby and arrested.

A 21-year-old man from Wynn Vale has been charged with numerous offences including driving dangerously to evade police, illegal use of a motor vehicle, driving unlicensed and breaching bail.

He has been refused bail and will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday (29 July).
