Police arrest man after pursuit in South Tamworth

A man has been arrested following a pursuit through South Tamworth today.

About 11.20am (Wednesday 22 December 2021), officers attached to Oxley Police District attempted to stop a silver Holden Barina sedan on Thompson Crescent.

The driver allegedly failed to stop, and a pursuit ensued throughout South Tamworth.

A short time later, the vehicle was seen to drive into the carpark of a unit block on Petra Avenue, before hitting a fence and coming to a stop.

The driver – a 20-year-old man – and his female passenger were arrested at the scene and taken to Tamworth Police Station.

The woman was released a short time later, while the man remains in custody as inquiries continue.

No one was injured during the incident.
