Police arrest man after series of events in Dandenong

Greater Dandenong Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested a man in Dandenong today following a series of incidents in the CBD area.

It is alleged a man committed and number of burglaries, theft of motor vehicles and threatened multiple people over the course of approximately one hour.

Just after 7am, police have been told he attempted to steal an electric cart and a motorbike from a carpark on Thomas Street but was confronted by members of the public.

He was followed by the witnesses to the intersection of Walker and Langhorne Streets where he dropped the motorbike and allegedly threatened people with a knife.

The Carrum Downs man was arrested a short time later.

No one was physically injured during the incidents and the 26-year-old is currently being interviewed.

Police have been told by witnesses the offender also allegedly attempted to carjack approximately four people just before 8am, including an elderly lady, but investigators are yet to locate these possible victims.
