Police arrest man after stolen car gets bogged near Ballarat

A man’s crime spree came to an abrupt holt this morning when the stolen car he was driving got bogged near Ballarat.

Local police were patrolling when they observed a stolen silver Mitsubishi Pajero on Humffray Street North in Ballarat about 2.30am.

Officers were guided by the Air Wing who followed the stolen car from above.

The Air Wing then observed the stolen car become bogged in bushland between Church’s and Hearne roads in Nerrina.

Officers on the ground located the stolen vehicle and arrested a 29-year-old man without incident.

The Ballarat East man was interviewed and charged with theft of motor vehicle, theft from motor vehicle and handle stolen goods.

He was bailed to appear before Ballarat Magistrates’ Court on 25 May 2021.

Investigators have since established the Mitsubishi was stolen in Soldiers Hill on 14 September and has been involved in a string of alleged offending.
