Police arrest man for tram assault, South Australia

A man was arrested for an assault on a tram yesterday and police are asking any additional victims to come forward.

Just after midday yesterday, Monday 23 May, police received multiple reports of a man behaving inappropriately towards women on a tram travelling from the Entertainment Centre to the city.

The man had exited the tram at the Bonython stop and police searched the area for the suspect.

Mounted Operations officers located the suspect on Gaol Road. It will be alleged he was found in possession of several knives and articles of disguise.

The 32-year-old man was arrested and charged with assault, disorderly behaviour, possess prohibited weapon and carry article of disguise.

He was bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on 4 July and issued with a 3-month transit barring order.

Police believe there may be more victims and would like to hear from anyone else who may have been assaulted on the tram.
