Police arrest man over 2017 death of a baby, South Australia

Today, Thursday 19 March, police arrested a 30-year-old Mount Gambier man in relation to the death of a baby in November 2017.

The man is the biological father of the baby.

On 5 June 2016, a 6-week-old was presented at Whyalla Hospital in respiratory arrest and with serious injuries.

The baby was resuscitated and transferred to the Women’s and Children’s Hospital where she later died of her injuries.

Major Crime detectives and Whyalla CIB have conducted a lengthy investigation that has resulted in the arrest today.

The arrested man has been charged with manslaughter and will appear before the Mount Gambier Magistrates Court tomorrow.
