Police arrest man over attempt robbery Salisbury Downs, South Australia

A man has been arrested after he allegedly attempted to rob a service station at Salisbury Downs overnight.

Just on 1am Wednesday 20 November, a man entered a 24 hour service station on Salisbury Highway, placed what appeared to be part of a firearm on the counter and demanded cash.

The console operator refused the man money and he left the service station empty handed.

Northern Police patrols quickly converged on the area locating a man fitting the description of the suspect running on Amsterdam Crescent about 400 metres from the service station.

The 26-year-old man from Pennington was searched and he found to have the a partial rifle consisting of the wooden stock and trigger assembly ( but no barrel ) down his pants.

The man was subsequently arrested and charged with attempt aggravated robbery, aggravated assault, firearms offences and unlawful possession.

The arrested man has been refused police bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court.
